Also know as the City of Churches, Adelaide is an easy to use town and it's easy to navigate. It also makes a terrific base from which to visit other important spots nearby,eg the Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills.
The Adelaide CBD is fun and has masses of places close by to visit on North Patio, like the Casino, Train line Station and a fabulous museum. There's plenty of shopping in the Adelaide Mall and a visit to the banks of the Torrens Stream is a must “duck feeding is optional. You can also jump on the Glenelg tram for a visit to the beach at Glenelg, a walk on the pier and then back to the city again.
Adelaide is very dramatic with plenty of old buildings and the numerous sandstone houses and thatched fences are quaint. The city itself is encircled with a ring of open space parkland, giving the town more of a country feel than that of Sydney or Melbourne.
A trip into the Adelaide Hills is an engaging experience. It is normally seriously cooler in the hills, than on the Adelaide terraces, especially in the hot summers and many opt to live there for this reason. There are several tiny cities and hamlets to visit, so depending on your list, you could easily spend two days exploring the hills and eating out in the many glorious eateries available.
There are many glorious wineries to the south of Adelaide and you will have a superb time visiting, tasting and dining at the numerous top class wineries. McLaren Vale is one to add to your ‘to do ‘ list. Again, this sort of visiting can be very delightful so you should perhaps allow for two days of this too. These is masses of pleasing accommodation available to suit all budgets and I would suggest at least a full week to experience all Adelaide has to offer.
